Hydrogen Seals

K C Engineering is a specialist in the manufacture and repair of oil seals or 'hydrogen seals' used in hydrogen cooled generators. We serve both the needs of OEM's and end users. New seals are manufactured using a 5 axis vertical lathe, using a one piece approach rather than a fabrication to achieve complex geometries and minimise residual stresses in the base material.

Ultrasonic and Dye Penetrant inspections are carried out to the highest possible standards, as set by the OEM.

Precision Seals

K C Engineering's expertise and experience in precision machining, particularly with split components enables the manufacture of precision seals in almost any material to any specification:

• Labyrinth Seals (Aluminium and whitemetal lined)
• Mechanical Seals
• Balance Piston Seals lined with pure lead
• Pure Whitemetal Seals such as stuffing box and impeller seals.

We use co-ordinate measuring machines and surface profile height gauges during seal manufacture to ensure all specifications are adhered to. Specialist grinding and lapping operations are subcontracted to our preferred suppliers with experience in achieving the highest specifications for flatness.
